UDMPU Holds Emergency Budget Meeting:
PNC will Present Possible Solution
The
Professional Negotiating Committee (PNC) held another meeting with the
Administration representatives today, and crafted a preliminary solution. We have formally initialed this. We plan to solicit feedback from the
membership at the

The meeting
will begin with a presentation from the Administration officials: VP for Finance, Bill Johnson, AVP Barbara
Schirmer and Associate VP for HR Steve Nelson. They will outline the current budget crisis
facing the University and the various alternatives available. There will be
opportunity for questions and comments by the membership.
After their
presentation and departure, the PNC will then distribute our preliminary
solution as a proposal for discussion. We encourage questions, comments, and
suggestions. Based upon the feedback,
the PNC will refine the proposal and present it the Administration at our next
negotiating session, on Thursday December 9.
If all goes well, we will have a tentative agreement to present to the
Union Board and the membership. We hope
to start the ratification vote at the membership meeting on Monday December 13.
