UDMPU Holds Emergency Budget Meeting
The newly
elected Professional Negotiating Committee has met with Administration
officials twice this week. They were VP for Finance, Bill Johnson, AVP Barbara
Schirmer and Associate VP for HR Steve Nelson. The first meeting, on
November 30, was an informational meeting, at which the Administrators provided
information about the current budget crisis, and the reasons for their proposals.
The second
session was an actual negotiating session. This took place on Thursday, 2
December. Constructive talks were held,
and it is quite possible that a formal proposal will be agreed upon and sent to
the membership for approval. Another
negotiating meeting has been set for Friday 3 December to work out the details.

Vice Presidents
Johnson and Schirmer, and Associate VP Nelson will attend and make a
presentation to the membership There
will be opportunity for questions and comments by the membership.
